Title: Essays on Economics of Education

Supervisor: Athina Oikonomou

The thesis will examine contemporary empirical issues that attract the interest of researchers in the field of Education Economics. First, the relationship between investment in human capital and economic development will be studied, taking into account the differential legislative, policy and institutional factors that shape education policies in different countries. Secondly, the study will attempt to shed some light on individual policy preferences towards the support of redistribution policies in favour of education. Finally, the study will propose policy proposals towards the modernization of a more efficient and effective educational policy.
